The Location
The Fifth Ward is a historical political district (ward) and a community of Houston, Texas. The community is located northeast of Downtown. The Buffalo Bayou, Jensen Drive, Liberty Road, and Lockwood Drive bound the Fifth Ward.
The Fifth Ward is one of the six wards of Houston. It was created in part by two other wards. The First Ward, which ceded the area to the north and east of White Oak Bayou and Little White Oak Bayou, and the Second Ward, which ceded all land within the Houston city limits to the north of Buffalo Bayou. The Fifth Ward covers an area of 5.851 square miles and consists of a population of 22,627 residents.

The other 2% of the population is White, Asian, and Non-Hispanic. Around 20% of the total population is foreign born.
